Baseball Recap: Millbury's Winning Streak Snapped at Seven Games

Millbury dropped their record down to 10-5 on Monday, which also ended the team's seven-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Grafton Gators by a score of 7-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Woolies have suffered since April 10th.

As for Grafton, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.4 runs over those games.

For Grafton's part, Chris Kiesiner was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits. Kiesiner has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on C.J. Chagnon, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Millbury will square off against Douglas at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Grafton, they will take on Algonquin Regional at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
