Football Recap: Jones Starts Season with Victory on the Road

Jones had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Luther Lions 56-6. With the Longhorns ahead 28-6 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.

A big part of Jones' victory came down to the chemistry between Acyn Hansen and his top target Hunter Purvis. Hansen threw for 224 yards and four TDs while completing 75% of his passes while Purvis picked up 110 receiving yards and three scores. Those three receiving touchdowns gave Purvis a new career-high. Coda Harris helped Hansen out on the ground, rushing for 38 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Jones will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against Kiefer at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Luther, they will welcome Bethel at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
