Basketball Game Preview: Waco Christian Warriors vs. Mercy Prep Academy Royals

The Waco Christian Warriors will face off against the Mercy Prep Academy Royals at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Waco Christian has three straight victories, Mercy Prep Academy has five straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Last Tuesday, Waco Christian was able to grind out a solid win over Mercy Prep Academy, taking the game 39-29.

Waco Christian's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Zeriya Potts, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and nine boards. Potts has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last six times she's played. Another player making a difference was Dani Hanan, who posted nine points in addition to five rebounds and three steals.

Waco Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in ten consecutive contests.

Waco Christian is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 5-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 24.3 points per game. As for Mercy Prep Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 2-10.
