Softball Recap: Troy Now 15-1 over Last 16 Games

Troy had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They put the hurt on the Huntington Red Devils with a sharp 13-2 win on Saturday. The Trojans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 24 contests by six runs or more this season.

The team relied heavily on Jae Jae Phillips, who fired off two home runs, seven RBI, and one stolen base while going 3-for-5. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one home run the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Laney Setzer, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Troy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .595. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .529 or higher in four consecutive matches.

Troy has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 15 of their last 16 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 27-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.6 runs over those games. As for Huntington, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 27-4.

Troy will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Red Devils: the pair will be back at it again later today.
