Flag Football Recap: Basic Takes a Loss

Basic extended their losing streak to nine on Wednesday, dropping them down to 3-10. They were beaten by the Southeast Career Tech Roadrunners 37-7. The Wolves lost against the Roadrunners in their previous head to head back in January of 2025, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 13-12 score last time.

As for Southeast Career Tech, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-8 record this season. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven contests by 27 points or more this season.

Kiara Hughes went supernova, rushing for 185 yards and three TDs on only 14 carries, while also throwing for 48 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Those 185 rushing yards gave her a new career-high. Averie Carothers was in the mix as well, providing Southeast Career Tech with two scores.

Basic has already played their next game, a 46-0 defeat against Arbor View on the 23rd. As for Southeast Career Tech, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 12-6 win against Coronado on the 23rd.
