Basketball Recap: New Brockton Comes Up Short

New Brockton and Straughn squared off in some playoff action on Monday, but New Brockton had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Straughn Tigers by a score of 51-49. The Gamecocks' defeat continues a trend for the squad, making it six in a row.

Charlie Jordan went supernova for Straughn, going 5 of 7 on his way to 11 points along with seven boards and five assists. The dominant performance also gave Jordan a new career-high in steals (four). Another player making a difference was Clark Jordan, who almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine rebounds.

New Brockton's loss dropped their record down to 9-16. As for Straughn, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 14-14.

New Brockton does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Straughn, they will challenge Bullock County at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Bullock County will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something Straughn surely won't give up without a fight.
