Football Recap: Lamar Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Lamar can now relate to. They were dealt a 48-14 defeat at the hands of the Kent Denver Sun Devils on Saturday. The Thunder were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 34-7.

Loss or not, Lamar got some senior leadership from Adriel Gonzalez and Cason Pollart. Gonzalez rushed for 74 yards and one TD, while Pollart picked up 87 receiving yards and one score. The bulk of those receiving yards came from one huge play: a catch that gained an incredible 64 yards.

With the defeat, Lamar broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 7-3. As for Kent Denver, their victory bumped their record up to 8-2.

Lamar does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Kent Denver, they will challenge The Classical Academy at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Titans' defense has only allowed 9.8 points per game this season, so the Sun Devils' offense will have their work cut out for them.
