Baseball Recap: Leake Academy Beats Lamar for Their Fourth Straight Win

With a playoff win on the line, Leake Academy rose to the challenge on Tuesday. They walked away with a 12-7 win over the Lamar Raiders. This was a revenge game for the Rebels: when they faced off against the Raiders on April 4th, they had to take a 4-1 loss.

Mathan Weaver was excellent, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Wright Palokas also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

The victory was the fourth in a row for Leake Academy, bringing their record up to 9-6. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.5 runs over those games. As for Lamar, their defeat ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 25-7-2.

Leake Academy will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Raiders: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
