Preview: Huntingtown Hurricanes vs. La Plata Warriors
Huntingtown is 9-0 against the Warriors since January of 2016, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Huntingtown Hurricanes will be playing at home against the La Plata Warriors at 5:30 p.m. The timing is sure in Huntingtown's favor as the squad sits on three straight wins at home while the Warriors have been banged up by nine consecutive losses on the road.
On Wednesday, it was a hard-fought game, but Huntingtown had to settle for a 46-43 loss against the Hornets.
Meanwhile, La Plata came up short against the Rams on Wednesday and fell 54-44. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for La Plata in their matchups with the Rams: they've now lost six in a row.
Despite the defeat, La Plata saw an underclassman step up: Aniyah Sisco scored 20 points. Taylor Parker was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Huntingtown's defeat dropped their record down to 11-6. As for La Plata, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost eight of their last nine matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-13 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Huntingtown against the Warriors in their previous matchup back in January of 2022 as the squad secured a 56-8 win. With Huntingtown ahead 34-2 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
