Baseball Recap: Dwyer Snags Seventh Victory in Last Eight Games

It may have taken ten innings to finish the job, but Dwyer ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They won by a run and slipped past the John Carroll Catholic Rams 8-7. For the Panthers, this counts as revenge for the 12-4 victory the Rams walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

Dom Pecoraro made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Pecoraro was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

In other batting news, Tyler Thrush was incredible, going 2-for-4 with three stolen bases and two RBI. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Owen Hewitt was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one triple and one run.

Dwyer kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive contests.

Dwyer has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-7 record this season. As for John Carroll Catholic, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 11-9.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Dwyer will venture away from home to square off against Jupiter at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The Panthers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Warriors have averaged an impressive 6.2 runs per game this season. As for John Carroll Catholic, they will head out on the road to take on Treasure Coast at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
