Basketball Game Preview: Capital Cougars vs. Cabell Midland Knights

Capital is 0-10 against Cabell Midland since January of 2016 but things could change on Thursday. The Capital Cougars will head out on the road to challenge the Cabell Midland Knights at 7:00 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 81-52, which was the final score in Capital's tilt against Parkersburg last Wednesday. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' West Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 68th, while the Big Reds are ranked sixth).

Meanwhile, Cabell Midland came up short against Winfield on Monday and fell 56-44. The Knights have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Cabell Midland's loss dropped their record down to 7-10. As for Capital, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-10.

Capital was dealt a bruising 70-29 loss at the hands of Cabell Midland when the teams last played back in February of 2024. Can Capital avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
