Softball Recap: Pittston's Loss Ends Four-Game Winning Streak on the Road

Pittston fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Dallas on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Mountaineers by a score of 3-2. Having soared to a lofty 13 runs in the game before, the Patriots couldn't push the score so high this time.

Samantha Herbert spent all 9.1 innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on nine hits and racked up eight Ks. Those eight strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

At the plate, Pittston saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gabby Gorzkowski, who went 2-for-4 with two runs.

Pittston's loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-5. As for Dallas, their victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Pittston will welcome Tunkhannock at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Tigers will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something the Patriots surely won't give up without a fight. As for Dallas, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Berwick at 6:00 p.m.
