Football Recap: Middleburg Falls Short of Bartram Trail in the Playoffs

Middleburg and Bartram Trail squared off in some playoff action on Monday, but Middleburg had to settle for second. They received a blow as they fell 27-13 to the Bears. While losing is never fun, the Broncos can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 203rd, while the Bears are ranked 67th).

Bartram Trail's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kaila Pierce, who threw for 238 yards and three touchdowns. Pierce is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as she's now passed for three or more in each of the last three games she's played. Bartram Trail's leading receiver Layla Davis was Pierce's top target yet again, picking up 52 receiving yards and a pair of TDs.

Middleburg's defeat dropped their record down to 4-9. As for Bartram Trail, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season.

Middleburg does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Bartram Trail, they have already played their next matchup, a 12-7 win against Ponte Vedra on the 16th.
