Football Game Preview: Ruston Bearcats vs. Westgate Tigers

The Ruston Bearcats will square off against the Westgate Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Ruston is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Louisiana's top teams: West Monroe, who was ranked 13th at the time (Ruston was ranked fourth). The Bearcats secured a 49-44 W over the Rebels last Friday. The Bearcats haven't had any issues with the Rebels recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Meanwhile, it can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Westgate had no problem doing just that on Friday. They breezed past the Vikings to the tune of 49-14. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won six games by 20 points or more so far this season.

Ruston's win bumped their record up to 8-2. As for Westgate, their victory bumped their record up to 7-4.

Ruston skirted past Westgate 20-18 when the teams last played back in November of 2023. Will the Bearcats repeat their success, or do the Tigers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
