Baseball Game Preview: Rancho Dominguez Lobos vs. Compton Tarbabes

The Rancho Dominguez Lobos will challenge the Compton Tarbabes at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Monday, it was close, but Rancho Dominguez sidestepped Port of Los Angeles for a 6-4 victory. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Lobos have posted against the Polar Bears since March 20, 2015.

Meanwhile, Compton put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their undefeated season alive. They were the clear victor by a 16-4 margin over Inglewood. While the Tarbabes didn't have the best season last year (they finished 5-16), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Marcos Reveles looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Anthony Lopez and Bobby Carrasco did most of the damage at the plate: Lopez scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances, while Carrasco scored three runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3. What's more, Lopez posted two hits, the most he's had since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Anthony Jacobo, who scored three runs while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

Compton pushed their record up to 5-0-1 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.7 runs over those games. As for Rancho Dominguez, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Rancho Dominguez suffered a grim 14-4 defeat to Compton in their previous meeting back in March of 2015. Can Rancho Dominguez avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
