Basketball Game Preview: King Lions vs. Riverview Sharks

King is 1-7 against Riverview since November of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The King Lions just played yesterday, but they'll still head out to face the Riverview Sharks at 6:30 p.m. Riverview took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on King, who comes in off a win.

King took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They walked away with a 43-31 win over Alonso. The victory was some much needed relief for the Lions as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

King can attribute much of their success to Heaven Pyfrom, who posted 18 points and four steals, and Mariah Pinkney, who earned 17 points and eight boards. Pyfrom is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last six games she's played. Jakayla Nice was another key player, putting up four points and five rebounds.

Meanwhile, Riverview was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Friday as they fell 35-30 to Chamberlain. While losing is never fun, the Sharks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 459th, while the Storm are ranked 215th).

Riverview has traveled a rocky road recently having lost ten of their last 13 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-14 record this season. As for King, their win bumped their record up to an identical 5-14.

King took a serious blow against Riverview when the teams last played back in November of 2023, falling 66-21. Can King avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
