Basketball Recap: Franklin Community Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Aubrey Leugers and Addi Bright

Franklin Community was the 37-32 winner over Shelbyville when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. The Franklin Community Grizzly Cubs took a 54-49 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Shelbyville Golden Bears. The Grizzly Cubs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Addi Bright and Aubrey Leugers certainly did their best on Saturday to avoid the loss. Bright posted 18 points, while Leugers had eight points and four steals. Bright continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Izzy Stillabower, who earned nine points and five rebounds.

Even though they lost, Franklin Community smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in November of 2023.

Among those leading the charge was Maddy Jones, who went 5 of 7 on her way to 18 points. Her afternoon made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Reese Fortune, who put up six points and six rebounds.

Franklin Community's loss dropped their record down to 6-8. As for Shelbyville, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 7-4.

Franklin Community wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 75-43 defeat against South Bend Washington on the 28th. As for Shelbyville, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 62-35 loss against Northeastern on the 27th.
