The Morgantown Mohigans will head out to take on the Lewis County Minutemen at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Morgantown is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.4 runs per game this season.
Morgantown fell victim to Washington and their airtight pitching crew on Saturday. They came up short against the Patriots, falling 7-0. The Mohigans' defeat signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.
Morgantown saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was ANNE ROBINSON, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base.
Meanwhile, Lewis County entered their tilt with Bridgeport on Saturday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They put the hurt on the Indians with a sharp 22-2 win. That looming 22-2 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Minutemen yet this season.
Ashley Crook made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, firing off two home runs and four RBI while going 2-for-4. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Lewis County got a massive performance out of Courtney Boggs, who went 1-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI Boggs has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaelyn Smith, who went 1-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
Lewis County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .650. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Morgantown's loss dropped their record down to 14-9. As for Lewis County, their record now sits at 8-3.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Monday. Morgantown hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.6 home runs per game. However, it's not like Lewis County struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.9 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Morgantown took their victory against Lewis County in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 9-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Mohigans since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
