Softball Recap: Canby Starts Season with Loss on the Road

Canby had to start their season on the road on Wednesday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They came up short against the Jesuit Crusaders, falling 9-3. The Cougars have struggled against the Crusaders recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost meetings.

Abi Troutman and Taylor Saucedo stepped up to the plate in a big way. Troutman went 1-for-2 with one home run, while Saucedo went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double. That's the most RBI Saucedo has posted since back in April of 2024.

The win made it two in a row for Jesuit and bumps their season record up to a perfect 2-0.

Looking ahead, Canby will host Bend at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Jesuit, they will head out on the road to square off against Crater at 1:30 p.m. on Friday.
