The Statesboro Blue Devils entered their tilt with the Jenkins Warriors with five consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with six. Statesboro claimed a resounding 63-33 win over Jenkins at home. The result was nothing new for Statesboro, who have now won four matchups by 28 points or more so far this season.
Statesboro's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Alyssa Staten led the charge by dropping a double-double on 22 points and 12 rebounds. Staten is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last seven games she's played. Reya Johnson was another key contributor, dropping a triple-double on 10 points, 10 rebounds, and 11 assists.
Statesboro's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-1. They've been dominating during the matches in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 25 points. As for Jenkins, they now have a losing record at 3-4.
Statesboro will take on Archer in a holiday battle at 8:30 p.m. on Friday at. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Georgia (Archer is ranked 37th, while Statesboro is ranked 57th). Jenkins will be home for the holidays to greet Hilton Head Christian Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
