Soccer Game Preview: Glendale Prep Academy vs. Mountainside

Glendale Prep Academy is preparing for their first region matchup of the season on Tuesday. They will head out on the road to take on the Mountainside Wolves at 6:00 p.m. Neither team made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

While Glendale Prep Academy's win against Tonopah Valley wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Griffins never let the Phoenix get on the board and left with a 1-0 victory on Friday. Given Glendale Prep Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona soccer rankings (they are ranked 47th, while Tonopah Valley are ranked 137th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Mountainside scored the most goals they've had this season on Tuesday, but it wasn't enough. They lost 7-1 to Kingman Academy.

The win made it two in a row for Glendale Prep Academy and bumps their season record up to 6-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up zero goals over those two matches. As for Mountainside, their loss dropped their record down to 0-5.

Everything went Glendale Prep Academy's way against Mountainside when the teams last played back in January of 2025, as Glendale Prep Academy made off with an 18-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Griffins since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
