Monte Vista moved up to 451 from 507 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Grossmont - Valley. The Monarchs climbed the ranks as a result of defeating Santana 41-7.
Mount Miguel extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Bonita Vista, 43-19. The victory was the fourth in a row for the team.
The Sultans' Gabe Kruse and Tyler Browning have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Kruse has thrown for 908 yards this season, while Browning, a 6-foot-0 receiver, has 43 catches for 509 yards. Mount Miguel's Tony Dozier leads the league in rushing yards with 1255.
A big matchup in Grossmont - Valley this week will be when Shaun McDade's team takes on El Capitan. As it stands, the Matadors are in first, while the Vaqueros are in third.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Monte Vista takes on El Cajon Valley. Ron Hamamotto's team has allowed 140 points this season, while the Braves have given up 205. The Monarchs allowed 7 points last week as they beat Santana.
El Capitan took down El Cajon Valley 54-14 last week, the largest margin of any game.
