Basketball Recap: Royse City's Win Ends Three-Game Losing Streak on the Road

Royse City won the last time they faced North Forney and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Royse City Bulldogs secured a 67-61 W over the North Forney Falcons. Given the Bulldogs' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 222nd, while the Falcons are ranked 544th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

North Forney's loss came despite strong showings from Zach Thompson and Taeshaun Benson. Thompson went 6 of 11 on his way to 19 points and six boards, while Benson posted 18 points and six rebounds. That's the most rebounds Benson has posted since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Marcus Page Jr., who put up seven points.

Royse City's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 17-13. As for North Forney, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost 12 of their last 16 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 12-18 record this season.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Longview the next time they take the court. North Forney will head out to face Longview at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, while Royse City will host them at 7:00 p.m. on February 4th.
