Basketball Recap: Kdeidria Collins' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Southwest Edgecombe over West Craven

SouthWest Edgecombe has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They lost to the West Craven Eagles on the road by a 60-46 margin on Tuesday. The contest marked the Cougars' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

SouthWest Edgecombe lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Kdeidria Collins, who almost dropped a double-double with 16 points and nine rebounds. Collins is also crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Ka'Mariya Gandy was another key player, dropping a double-double with ten points and 11 boards.

Even though they lost, SouthWest Edgecombe smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in nine consecutive matches.

West Craven's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Shalawn Yates, who dropped a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Felisha Wilson, who posted 15 points along with eight boards and four blocks.

The loss was their first on the road , dropping their record down to 19-3. As for West Craven, the victory (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 18-3.
