Baseball Recap: Lincoln Takes a Loss

Lincoln lost against Lowell on Wednesday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Mustangs fell just short of the Cardinals by a score of 3-2. The Mustangs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Branson Derrington spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on one hit and racked up seven Ks. He is becoming a predictor of Lincoln's success: when he allows at most two hits the team is 3-1 (and 10-13 when he doesn't).

On the hitting side, Nicholas Chiu made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Lincoln now has a losing record of 13-14. As for Lowell, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-8 record this season.

Lincoln wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 4-1 defeat against Half Moon Bay on the 3rd. As for Lowell, they have also already played their next game, a 10-0 victory against Mission on the 8th.
