Baseball Recap: Frewsburg's Run of Six Straight Victories Now Over

Frewsburg dropped their record down to 17-6-1 on Tuesday, which also ended the team's six-game streak of wins. They fell 7-2 to the Dunkirk Marauders. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Bears of the 14-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2021.

Chase Haglund made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in two of his three plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.

As for Dunkirk, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 13 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-3 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games.

On Dunkirk's side, Greg Orcutt made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk). Orcutt was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That's the most runs he has posted over his last ten contests.

In other batting news, Dylan Bankoski was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two runs. Another player making a difference was Anthony Piede, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.

Looking ahead, Frewsburg will be playing in front of their home fans against St. Mary's at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Dunkirk, they will welcome Albion at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Purple Eagles have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.72 runs per game on average), something the Marauders will no doubt try to take advantage of.
