Baseball Game Preview: Ellenville Blue Devils vs. Rhinebeck Hawks

Ellenville is 2-8 against Rhinebeck since May of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Blue Devils will be playing in front of their home fans against the Hawks at 4:15 p.m. Rhinebeck took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Ellenville, who comes in off a win.

Ellenville took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. They had just enough and edged out Livingston Manor 8-6. The Blue Devils' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Meanwhile, Rhinebeck was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their tenth straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost 16-1 to Spackenkill.

Rhinebeck saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Dean Pendergast, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base and one run. Sawyer Giles also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Ellenville's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-4. As for Rhinebeck, their loss dropped their record down to 0-6.

Ellenville suffered a grim 17-4 defeat to Rhinebeck when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Blue Devils avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
