Football Recap: Memphis Central Starts off Right with Win over Melrose

Memphis Central had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They were the clear victors by a 36-14 margin over the Melrose Golden Wildcats on Friday. The Warriors have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Golden Wildcats, too.

Despite the loss, Melrose saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Thomas Heffner threw for 194 yards and two TDs, and also rushed for 41 yards.

Memphis Central will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on White Station at 7:00 p.m. on September 5. As for Melrose, they will take on Fairley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
