Baseball Recap: Calhoun Wins Going Away Against Hannan

Calhoun was handed a heart-breaking two-run defeat in their last contest, but they sure didn't let that happen against Hannan on Monday. The Red Devils blew past the Wildcats 20-1. The Red Devils have beaten the Wildcats the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Wildcats has come to flipping the script.

Chase Schoolcraft was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He is becoming a predictor of Calhoun's success: when he allows at most one hit the team is 6-2 (and 6-15 when he doesn't). Schoolcraft was even better at the plate, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double.

In other pitching news, Reese Schoolcraft looked comfortable as he tossed 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, Garrett Carpenter was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Ruger Carder, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and one RBI.

Calhoun was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hannan only posted a batting average of .062.

Calhoun's win bumped their record up to 12-17. As for Hannan, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 7-15.

Coming up, Calhoun is taking a road trip to face off against Man at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Hillbillies' pitching crew has only allowed 3.9 runs per game this season, so the Red Devils' hitters will have their work cut out for them. Hannan does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
