Preview: Hiram Hornets vs. Cass Colonels
The Hiram Hornets just played last night, but they'll still head out to face the Cass Colonels at 7:30 p.m. on January 16th. Hopefully Hiram is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Cass in Georgia (Hiram is ranked 96th, while Cass is ranked 388th).
Hiram suffered their biggest defeat since November 28, 2023 on Monday. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 70-48 walloping at the hands of Pace Academy. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Hiram has scored all season.
Meanwhile, Cass was just a bucket shy of victory on Friday and fell 45-44 to Cartersville. Cass has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
The losing side was boosted by Jakai Baldwin, who scored 18 points along with four steals. Another player making a difference was Jayden Foster, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds.
Hiram's record is now 8-7. Cass' record now sits at 4-9.
Everything came up roses for Hiram against Cass in their previous matchup back in February of 2023 as the squad secured a 88-45 win. Will Hiram repeat their success, or does Cass have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
