Basketball Game Preview: Freedom Patriots vs. Oviedo Lions

Freedom is 0-5 against Oviedo since February of 2018 but things could change on Tuesday. The Freedom Patriots will venture away from home to square off against the Oviedo Lions at 7:00 p.m. Neither of these teams found much success offensively their last time out, scoring well below their season average.

Last Friday, Freedom came up short against Tohopekaliga and fell 28-21. The contest marked the Patriots' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Meanwhile, Oviedo was beaten by Ocoee 53-7 on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 449th, while the Knights are ranked 34th).

Oviedo dropped their record down to 3-13 with the loss, which was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Freedom, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 5-15.

Freedom was dealt a bruising 50-20 loss at the hands of Oviedo in their previous matchup back in December of 2023. Can Freedom avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
