Basketball Preview: Summit Christian Academy Eagles vs. Barstow Knights

The Summit Christian Academy Eagles will head out on the road to face off against the Barstow Knights at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Summit Christian Academy will be looking to extend their current nine-game winning streak.

Summit Christian Academy stacked a 13th blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They really took it to Van Horn for the full four quarters, racking up a 54-23 victory at home. Given Summit Christian Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 88th, while the Falcons are ranked 303rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Summit Christian Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Mike Thomas iii, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 13 rebounds. Thomas iii has been hot recently, having posted two or more blocks the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Max Rieger, who scored 13 points along with three steals.

Meanwhile, Barstow escaped with a win on Friday against the Raiders by the margin of a single free throw, 42-41. Despite the win, that was the fewest points Barstow has scored all year.

Summit Christian Academy pushed their record up to 19-6 with that win, which was their seventh straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.1 points per game. As for Barstow, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 14-5.

Summit Christian Academy and the Knights were neck-and-neck when the teams last played back in January, but the Eagles came up empty-handed after a 49-48 loss. Can Summit Christian Academy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
