Athens strolled into their game on Thursday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They never let the Tioga Tigers get on the board and left with a 13-0 victory. The Wildcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by six runs or more this season.
Danica May was incredible, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Savanannah Finan, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs and one RBI.
Athens pushed their record up to 7-0 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games. As for Tioga, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 3-1.
Looking ahead, Athens will head out to square off against North Penn-Liberty at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. The Mountie will roll in looking for their eighth straight win, something the Wildcats surely won't give up without a fight. As for Tioga, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Southern Cayuga at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
