Preview: Pleasant Grove Spartans vs. Guntersville Wildcats
The Pleasant Grove Spartans will face off against the Guntersville Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Pleasant Grove comes in on eight and Guntersville on four.
Pleasant Grove had already proven themselves in the regular season, and didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They blew past Boaz 49-7 on the road. Pleasant Grove might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won eight matches by 25 points or more this season.
Pleasant Grove's win on Friday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Camren Wormley, who gained 115 total yards and a touchdown. Wormley was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 60 yards. Another player making a difference was Collin Moore, who rushed for 105 yards and a touchdown on only 11 carries.
Meanwhile, Guntersville gave up the first points last Friday, but they didn't let that get them down. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past John Carroll Catholic 20-17.
Their wins bumped Pleasant Grove to 10-1 and Boaz to 6-6.
Everything went Pleasant Grove's way against Guntersville in their previous meeting back in November of 2020 as Pleasant Grove made off with a 42-21 victory. Does Pleasant Grove have another victory up their sleeve, or will Guntersville turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
