Baseball Game Preview: Washburn Pirates vs. Apostolic Christian Academy Flames

The Washburn Pirates will challenge the Apostolic Christian Academy Flames at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Washburn will be strutting in after a win while Apostolic Christian Academy will be coming in after a defeat.

Washburn is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They walked away with a 6-1 victory over Cumberland Gap on Friday.

Matthew Harville was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Those runs marked the first that he scored this season.

Meanwhile, Apostolic Christian Academy fell victim to Greenback and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They lost 12-0 to the Cherokees.

Apostolic Christian Academy saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Owen Rife, who went 1-for-2 with one double.

Washburn's win ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-5. As for Apostolic Christian Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.
