Baseball Recap: Hillsboro Comes Up Short

If Hillsboro was riding high fresh off their 16-1 takedown of Herington on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Trojans came up short against the Halstead Dragons on Thursday, falling 14-4. The Trojans were not able to make up for their loss to the Dragons from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

Hillsboro saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ashton Talkington, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Talkington is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Another was Nash Dickinson, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.

Hillsboro's record now sits at 4-7. As for Halstead, their victory ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-10.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Hillsboro beat the Dragons by a score of 6-1 later that day.
