Baseball Game Preview: Athens Hornets vs. Canton Eagles

Athens is 2-8 against Canton since March of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The Hornets are taking a road trip to challenge the Eagles at 4:00 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Athens came out on top against Brownsboro last Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run third inning. The Hornets sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-5 win over the Bears. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Hornets.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Canton, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They put the hurt on Mabank with a sharp 7-1 victory on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won seven matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Athens' win bumped their record up to 13-11. As for Canton, their victory bumped their record up to 11-9.

Everything went Athens' way against Canton in their previous matchup back in March, as Athens made off with a 13-4 win. Do the Hornets have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Eagles turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
