Basketball Recap: Jeffersonville Starts Season with Loss on the Road

Jeffersonville kicked off their season on the road on Saturday and hit a couple of potholes. They took a 76-63 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cathedral Fighting Irish. The Red Devils were down 61-39 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Jeffersonville lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Jacob Wilkerson, who posted 15 points and four steals. He is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 50% in the last three games he's played dating back to last season. Terrence Nord was another key player, putting up 12 points.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Cathedral to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ryan Gold Jr, who had 12 points and six assists. Another player making a difference was R'Mani Wells, who shot 56% from the field en route to 11 points.

Jeffersonville will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Seymour at 7:30 p.m. on the 12th. As for Cathedral, they have already played their next game, a 71-62 win against Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory on the 5th.
