Basketball Recap: Centennial Comes Up Short

Centennial lost against Little Elm back in December of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Centennial Titans lost 59-38 to the Little Elm Lobos. While losing is never fun, the Titans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 224th, while the Lobos are ranked 36th).

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Little Elm to victory, but perhaps none more so than Darius Johnson, who went 7 of 14 on his way to 21 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ian Berry, who almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine rebounds.

Centennial has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 13-8 record this season. As for Little Elm, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 17-5.

Centennial wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 52-36 victory against Lebanon Trail on the 3rd. As for Little Elm, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 73-51 defeat against Guyer on the 3rd.
