Soccer Game Preview: Wasco vs. Chavez

The Wasco Tigers will face off against the Chavez Titans at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Wasco is coming into the game hot, having won their last six games.

Wasco's defense heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Kennedy as Wasco made off with a 6-0 victory. Given the Tigers' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 388th, while the Thunderbirds are ranked 863rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Wasco hit Kennedy with a four-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Edwin Chavez (2), Juan Montez (2), Juan Aviles, and Angel Raya.

Meanwhile, for the first time since back in December of 2024, Chavez was forced to settle for a draw on Tuesday. They and Delano finished up their match with a 0-0 draw.

Wasco has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-4-1 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 37 goals over those 11 contests. Chavez's draw makes their record 5-7-3 this season.

Wasco was able to grind out a solid win over Chavez in their previous matchup on January 7th, winning 3-1. Will Wasco repeat their success, or does Chavez have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
