Basketball Game Preview: Brighton Bulldogs vs. Erie Tigers

The Brighton Bulldogs will head out to challenge the Erie Tigers at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Brighton has struggled recently with three losses in a row, while Erie will arrive with five straight victories.

Last Tuesday, Brighton ended up a good deal behind Northglenn and lost 55-36.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Erie). They really took it to Niwot for the full four quarters, racking up a 66-35 win. The Tigers pushed the score to 49-28 by the end of the third, a deficit the Cougars had little chance of recovering from.

Erie's win came from a few key players Brighton will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Juliet Slater, who posted 23 points and six steals. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last ten games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Sophie Husk, who went 7-for-9 on her way to 17 points along with five assists and five steals.

Erie was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Niwot only posted five assists.

Erie's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-7. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.8 points over those games. As for Brighton, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-19.

Brighton was taken down by Erie 58-19 in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. That match was all but decided by halftime, at which point Brighton was down 29-8.
