Basketball Recap: Jude Pritchard's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Santa Ynez over Mission College Prep

Santa Ynez lost against Mission College Prep back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Santa Ynez Pirates took a 66-53 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Mission College Prep Royals. While losing is never fun, the Pirates can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 508th, while the Royals are ranked 86th).

Santa Ynez's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jude Pritchard, who went 5 for 10 on his way to 15 points. Jayden Mendoza was another key player, putting up 11 points.

This is the second loss in a row for Santa Ynez and nudges their season record down to 8-8. As for Mission College Prep, they pushed their record up to 15-3 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Santa Ynez will head out to face off against Nipomo at 6:30 p.m. on January 14th. As for Mission College Prep, they will host Arroyo Grande at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
