Preview: Mansfield Christian Flames vs. Northmor Golden Knights
The Mansfield Christian Flames will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against the Northmor Golden Knights at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. Mansfield Christian knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past seven games -- so hopefully Northmor likes a good challenge.
Mansfield Christian has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four games by 33 points or more this season. They took their match at home on Thursday with ease, bagging a 75-39 win over East Knox. Given Mansfield Christian's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 330th, while East Knox is ranked 846th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Mansfield Christian relied on the efforts of Amarr Davis, who scored 27 points along with seven rebounds and five steals, and Dre Martin, who scored 19 points along with nine rebounds and six steals. The contest was Davis' seventh in a row with at least ten points. Davion Mack was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with five rebounds.
Meanwhile, Northmor was the victim of a tough 66-41 loss at the hands of Clear Fork on Saturday.
Mansfield Christian pushed their record up to 6-1 with that win, which was their third straight at home. They've been dominating during the matches in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 27.67 points. As for Northmor, their loss dropped their record down to 4-3.
Mansfield Christian couldn't quite finish off Northmor when the teams last played back in February and fell 63-60. Can Mansfield Christian avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
