Basketball Recap: Genoa-Kingston Cogs vs. Indian Creek Timberwolves

It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Genoa-Kingston ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They came out on top against the Indian Creek Timberwolves by a score of 64-56. For the Cogs, this counts as revenge for the 59-49 victory the Timberwolves walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2023.

Indian Creek lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Payton Hueber, who went 8 for 13 on his way to 20 points and eight rebounds. Hueber is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games. Logan Schrader was another key player, putting up 19 points and six rebounds.

The win got Genoa-Kingston back to even at 6-6. As for Indian Creek, they suffered their first home loss, dropping their record down to 12-5.

Genoa-Kingston will venture away from home to square off against Hinckley-Big Rock at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Genoa-Kingston knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past nine matches -- so hopefully Hinckley-Big Rock likes a good challenge. As for Indian Creek, they will welcome Somonauk at 7:00 p.m. on January 10th.
