The Wakulla War Eagles will square off against the West Florida Jaguars at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a three-game winning streak alive.
Wakulla is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Bishop Kenny a 10-0 shutout. The War Eagles not only won on Wednesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 1st (when they won 16-0).
Bishop Kenny's batters probably weren't too happy with Charley Butler, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 11 Ks (she gave up a single walk). Butler has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in 18 consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Wakulla let Brianna Stephens and Cylie Long run wild. Stephens went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run, while Long got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Parker Stubbs, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one run and one double.
Wakulla hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bishop Kenny struck out 11 times.
Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but West Florida ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 win over Yulee. That's two games straight that the Jaguars have won by just one run.
Abby Cogdill spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on six hits.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Leianna Wagner, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base and one double. Courtney Bradley was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.
Wakulla's victory bumped their record up to 20-4-1. As for West Florida, their win bumped their record up to 15-12.
Wakulla skirted past West Florida 2-1 in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Will the War Eagles repeat their success, or do the Jaguars have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
