Football Game Preview: Marshall Barristers vs. Wilson Mules

Marshall hasn't had much luck against Wilson recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Barristers will challenge the Mules at 7:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

On Friday, Marshall came up short against Lincoln and fell 35-28. While the Barristers had to settle for second, they closed the game well in the third quarter, where they outscored the Tigers 14-8.

Marshall might have lost, but man, Nathaniel Cadet was a machine: he rushed for 34 yards and a pair of TDs, and also threw for 160 yards and one touchdown.

Even if they lost, Marshall's defensive line still kept up the pressure with three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: James Hibbs, Mohamed Ali El-Yassimi, and Enzo Meres, who each picked up one sack apiece.

Meanwhile, Wilson had to suffer through a 49-7 loss at the hands of Eagle Rock. The Mules haven't had much luck with the Eagles recently, as the team has come up short the last eight times they've met.

Marshall's loss dropped their record down to 6-3. As for Wilson, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-6.

Marshall was dealt a bruising 59-20 loss at the hands of Wilson in their previous matchup back in October of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of the Mules' Adrian Anaya, who rushed for 137 yards and three scores while picking up 7.6 yards per carry. Now that the Barristers know the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
