Volleyball Recap: Mercer's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past + How To Watch

There's no place like home for Mercer, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Thursday. They walked away with a 3-1 win over the Drummond Lumberjacks on Thursday. That's more bragging rights for the Tigers, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

While Mercer might've won, it sure wasn't easy: Drummond scored at least 18 points in every set they played. The final score came out to 25-20, 25-18, 21-25, 25-18.

Mercer's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ryley Saarnio, who had 12 kills, five blocks, and five aces. Those five blocks gave Saarnio a new career-high. Kaylee Powers was another key player, getting eight kills, five blocks, and five aces.

They weren't the only good servers: Mercer was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 17 aces. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their ace total in three consecutive matchups.

Mercer moved to 2-13 with that win, which also ended their five-match losing streak. As for Drummond, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-7.

Mercer has already played their next contest, a 2-0 victory against Northwood on the 27th. Drummond has also already played their next match (against Northwestern), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
