Football Recap: Vallejo Redhawks vs. Salesian College Preparatory Pride
Vallejo dropped to 4-2 on Friday, ending the team's six-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season. They were dealt a 47-14 defeat at the hands of the Salesian College Preparatory Pride. While losing is never fun, the Redhawks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 640th, while the Pride are ranked 305th).
Although Vallejo took the loss, they still got scores from Llogan Franklin and Elijah Peace.
Most of the squad's points came courtesy of special teams, who contributed eight in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Peace, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.
As for Salesian College Preparatory, the win keeps them at an undefeated 6-0. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three contests by 24 points or more this season.
Salesian College Preparatory was led to victory by Isaiah Latigue and Izeah Buchanan. Latigue rushed for 119 yards and two scores on only seven carries, while Buchanan threw for 194 yards and a pair of TDs. That's the most rushing yards Latigue has posted since back in November of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyler Sadler, who rushed for 67 yards and one touchdown on only eight carries.
We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Vallejo will challenge rival Pinole Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Salesian College Preparatory is set to face off against their familiar foe El Cerrito at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
