Irvine lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Santiago, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Wednesday's game. The Vaqueros were the clear victors by a 60-36 margin over the Cavaliers on Wednesday.

Among those leading the charge was Thiago Ida, who went 6-for-7 en route to 12 points in addition to five boards and four steals. What's more, he posted three assists, the most he's had since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Holden Stearns, who earned nine points and six rebounds.

Irvine was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Santiago only racked up four.

When it comes to explaining why Santiago lost, don't look at Ruben Vargas. Despite the final result, he had 12 points and six boards. Julian Morales was another key player, putting up six points.

The win got Irvine back to even at 1-1. As for Santiago, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Looking ahead, Irvine will take on San Juan Hills at 4:35 p.m. on Friday. As for Santiago, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 64-27 loss against Dana Hills on the 20th.
