League recap: Roy beats Weber in tight affair

4A Region 5 recap September 4, 2013

Roy and Weber played the closest game in 4A Region 5 this week, with Roy eventually emerging with a 17-14 victory.

Ogden lost to Westlake 42-7 last week, the largest margin of any game.

Braxton Godderidge put up the best numbers through the air as Sky View topped Maple Mountain. He finished with a total of 11 completions for 173 yards and 4 touchdowns. Godderidge's favorite target this week was Logan Miller, who caught 3 passes for 53 yards.

He went 11-16 with 2 interceptions.

Bracken Williams was a key player and the best on defense this week as Logan defeated Cottonwood. The 5-foot-11 junior forced 2 fumbles.

Taylor Compton was the best receiver in the league this week as the Grizzlies bested the Colts. Compton racked up 8 receptions for 101 yards. Tanner McIntire helped Logan's passing attack out by catching 4 balls for 45 yards.

Riley Burt was the most successful running back in the league this week. In 12 carries, he ran for 115 yards as Box Elder topped Cottonwood. Breckin Gunter also contributed to the rushing game with 47 yards on the ground.

Mike Favero's team's Chase Nelson and Compton have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading 4A Region 5 in both passing and receiving yards. Nelson has thrown for 551 yards this season, while Compton, a 5-foot-10 receiver, has 17 catches for 180 yards. Dane Anderson from the Bobcats leads the league in rushing with 151 yards.

Sky View led the league in scoring this week after putting up 44 points on the Golden Eagles. Godderidge ran for 28 yards in the win.
